The eighth annual Barrington Art Festival returns this Memorial Day weekend! Located in the affluent and vibrant Chicago suburb of Barrington, 35 miles northwest of Chicago, this highly anticipated art show features the work of over 130 juried artist

The eighth annual Barrington Art Festival returns this Memorial Day weekend! Located in the affluent and vibrant Chicago suburb of Barrington, 35 miles northwest of Chicago, this highly anticipated art show features the work of over 130 juried artists from around the world in a variety of mediums including painting, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture and more! The show is free and open to the public, with free parking as well. The event takes place along Cook and Station Streets in downtown Barrington on Saturday, May 27th and Sunday, May 28th, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm both days.

 “This is one of our favorite shows of the season, because it occurs during such a lovely time of year and the location is so charming and inviting,” said Amy Amdur, president of Amdur Productions, producers of the Barrington Art Festival. “The festival is held on the closed streets of Barrington, and there is always a large turnout from near and far,” she adds. “It’s obvious that the people who attend this festival have a deep appreciation of art and recognize the tremendous skill and talent of the artists chosen to exhibit.”  

While the Village of Barrington is known for its grand mansions and horse farms, it is also known for its downtown area, which offers cafes, pubs, quaint boutiques, stylish stores, and popular restaurants. The festival layout, which is wheelchair and stroller-friendly, has all the artists placed back to the curb, with a main center walkway through the middle. Cozy sitting areas dot the festival, which are perfect for relaxing and taking in the sights and sounds during the warm spring weather!

In addition to the artwork, fabulous food, and shopping, those who attend the Barrington Art Festival will also enjoy live musical performances all weekend long including a special performance by the renowned North Shore Concert Band on Saturday evening, May 27th immediately following the Barrington Art Festival. The concert, which pays tribute to veterans, includes John Philip Sousa marches, patriotic music and more, much more!

For those who work up a thirst, two of Barrington’s favorites, McGonigal’s Pub and Big Iron Horse Barbecue will be on site selling refreshing choices of beer, wine and sangria. There will also be a variety of activities for kids, including art fest bingo, spin art, coloring, and a graffiti wall. Throughout the 2-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats, so be sure to mark your calendars for this family-friendly experience in downtown Barrington!
