Dawoud Bey's latest body of work is a series of black-and-white photographs that reimagine sites along the last stages of the Underground Railroad.
In this series of black-and-white photographs, Bey reimagines sites from the last stages of the Underground Railroad. Inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes and the photography of Roy DeCarava, these dark images of homes and landscapes capture the twilight uncertainty faced by African Americans as they made their way toward freedom under the cover of night.
