Bestselling author Robert P. Jones will speak about “The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Future of American Democracy” at a January 31 Michigan Avenue Forum at Fourth Presbyterian Church.
Michigan Avenue Forums at Fourth Presbyterian Church seek to promote civic formation within the Chicagoland community by presenting a series of events that feature important thinkers and public leaders in live lecture or panel-discussion format, discussing current issues of civic and ethical priority. These events are free and intended for the community.
The next Michigan Avenue Forum will take place on Wednesday, January 31 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fourth Church Sanctuary (corner of Michigan and Delaware) and will also be livestreamed.
It will feature Robert P. Jones speaking about “The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Future of American Democracy.”
Mr. Jones, who is author of the New York Times bestseller "The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Path to a Shared American Future," will talk about that recent book and illuminate the possibility of a new American future in which we fulfill the promise of a pluralistic democracy.
Mr. Jones, president and founder of Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), writes regularly on politics, culture, and religion for the Atlantic, TIME, Religion News Service, and other outlets. He is also the author of "White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity" and "The End of White Christian America." He holds a Ph.D. in religion from Emory University and an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
