Tuesday First Books: Alexis Okeowo: A Moonless, Starless Sky

Price — $5.00 – $12.00

The American Writer's Museum celebrates the past, promotes the present, and inspires the future of writing in the United States. We are proud to welcome these authors to our Tuesday First Books series, highlighting the first books of promising, emerging and established writers.

In her debut book, acclaimed journalist and New Yorker staff writer Alexis Okeowo offers a powerful, timeless, and masterful work that explores Africa’s clash of fundamentalism and the ordinary women and men who are fighting back.

The American daughter of Nigerian immigrants to the U.S., Okeowo spent five years on the ground in Africa – landscapes both beautiful and impoverished. The result is a compelling, and often heart-wrenching, and always humane narrative of intertwined stories about how everyday people deal with extraordinary circumstances.

The event will begin at 5:30 pm. It is free with museum admission or a suggested $5 donation. Books will be sold at AWM before and after the event.
